Honduras Report

The report we last received from Lourdes Argueta, our Volunteer Director in Honduras, about our young friend Ever was encouraging. He continues to battle systemic infections on a day-to-day basis but God has given him a great will to live. Lourdes says he is getting out in his neighborhood in his motorized wheelchair as often as he can. Our hats are off to the young people of his church for coming to his home weekly, holding some of their youth meetings and socials at his home so Ever can participate. He has become a “rock” in his church, sharing what he has learned first hand about God’s faithfulness amidst our suffering. If you ever decide to come with us to Honduras this is one young man you must meet!

Guatemala Report

God has opened a new door of opportunity for ICH ministry in Guatemala. Sonya Rivera is the director of a growing number of Old Folks Homes throughout the country of Guatemala. About a year ago, after weeks of daily fasting, praying and holding vigil on the front steps of the Minister of Health Government offices she was granted an interview by the head of this office. She presented the plight of the growing number of senior adults who are indigent, homeless and dying on the streets. Her solution is to open 14 facilities all over Guatemala where people can be taken in for care in their final days. God answered her prayer and the Ministry of Health is granting Sonya funding with which at least 7 of these facilities can be opened. She is praising God because this is a move that is unprecedented by the Guatemalan government. Please pray with us about how ICH can assist Sonya and her staff. This spring we are planning to meet and discuss her staff education needs and just what ICH can do to help.

Bibles for Quiche students

Many of you have participated in donations for purchasing Bibles for students. We will be buying the Bibles in Honduras and delivering them with Pastor Eligio in Xojola, Guatemala this spring. He is the director of three government schools and has requested help with giving a Bible to each of the 900 students. This unique opportunity will open many unreached homes to the Gospel in an area where there are no churches. Thank you for listening to the Lord and giving!

A special Thanks to Elaine Huggins and the Ladies on Mission of Lexington Baptist Church. In February we were invited to share with this group about ICH and in particular the need for Bibles. Thank you for your vision for what God is doing around the world! Thank you for your generous gift for Bibles!

South Africa Report

In January we said “Good bye” to LaVerne Busbee again as she returned to South Africa on mission. God faithfully provided funding for her needs for the next 9 months of ministry. Currently she is in cultural and language training school but we know she is anxious to return to Huntington. Please pray for her as she prepares for work with the patients in the Home Based Care, children’s Centers and church ministry. Also please pray for God’s direction for LaVerne in future ministry.

Spring Ministry Schedule

March and April Ron and Susan will travel to Honduras and Guatemala for ministry.

Please pray:

· For safe travel and vehicle maintenance which Ron must do this spring.
· ICH Training Seminars scheduled in Honduras and Guatemala
· Believers to be called out to serve the dying and grieving in their communities
· Partnership/plan with Sonya Rivera’s Old Folks Homes in Guatemala
· Bible distribution in Guatemala
· Preparation being made to return for team ministry in August

Praise God for another year of opportunity for ICH. We pray that God will bless you and give you strength as you serve Him and those around you each day!

We are privileged to continue to take the message of hope and comfort in Christ to people who are dying and grieving around the world. Thank you for your part of praying and giving to the Lord!
